T minus 7 days until Tough Times On Trains begins again. I have been spending free time plotting and planning. Google search “dive bars near me” for each city. Business cards designed for crackhore, business cards for my other businesses. Slowly packing but I’m as ready as I’ll be.
I have been such a good little monster the last few months. Just sitting at home, watching tv and eating healthy. Working out everyday, been running again and getting down to 12 minute miles which is good for someone like me. Started hitting the pull up bar again too which is always a challenge. I need to get up to 10 and still around 4-5 :-/
I’m going to pull everything out of my backpack and suitcase the day I get on the train and take a pic. I feel very prepared and still have a whole week to make some final sales and gather more supplies.
I switch from super excited to nervous and back to excited. This will be the longest I’ve been on the road and is a test of how well I can survive while basically homeless. I’m going to try to travel light, 2 bags and a collapsible cooler. It’s such a delicate balance of weight in a bag vs stuff you need. It’s like going camping but you can’t bring a tent or have the ability to cook food.
I’ll probably snap while on the California zephyr and get a Amtrak burger but as I get older I respect quality food but also realize it’s just fuel for this content machine.
I kinda wish I hadn’t bought this ticket with the new war starting, should be saving money but I feel like I need to see as much before things get really bad. Honestly too, the ticket is the cheapest aspect of this. One of the tasks before I leave is a total wine trip to buy another box of wine and a bottle of scotch. Going to fill a bunch of plastic flasks so when I go out and about in each city I’ll just bring one of my flasks and order beers and take shots in bathroom. It’s a dishonest life but it’s tough being a drinker.
It’s easter weekend and everything is just shut down. It’s so annoying, whatever, need to just enjoy it. Eat lunch and go sit by the lake.
