Homegrown Security
A wood-burning stove, solar panels connected to car batteries for electricity and a satellite radio — all the comforts of home, right? But this little nest was found in a cave on Los Alamos National Laboratory land. Authorities evicted squatter Roy Moore from his hideaway, where he had apparently lived for years. A Lab employee noticed smoke wafting from a canyon. Firefighters called to the scene were impressed with Moore’s camp, which had a bed and a glass front door. Oh, and 10 pot plants outside the cave. Moore was charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He pleaded not guilty and was released. A Lab spokesman, who said the camp was about 50 yards from his office door, insisted Moore was not a “security threat.”
